Dibba Fort

It is one of the historical castles with a long history, consisting of a two-storey square main building, topped with pyramid-shaped parts and square and circular openings for the purpose of defense and control. Next to the castle, there are two circular towers at the front side of the fort with 7 meters high, the length of each is about 5 meters. Inside its own courtyard, there are multiple rooms, as it was rehabilitated to return to the state it was in the past. Moreover, the councils located in front of the castle and the towers that were used for guests and visitors have also been rehabilitated.

The fort and the towers were reconstructed and rehabilitated, the stone, sarcophagus, mud, trunks, palm fronds, and fibrous were introduced. Granite stones and firestones that were made in the construction operations were also restored, all of which were brought from Dibba region itself, as its mountains contain various types of stones. The castle is one of the most distinguished and famous historical archaeological sites in the city of Dibba Fujairah due to its unique construction, large area, and location overlooking the sea coast from the eastern and northern side, farms and mountains from the western and southern sides, where the castle is located in the middle of Dibba Fujairah farms.

Dibba fort reveals the track record of the emirate of Fujairah in general and the city of Dibba Al Fujairiya, which has been full of struggle since the dawn of history against any aggression. It is a great landmark reflecting the long history of the Dibba Fujairah region, where it was built thousands of years ago and carried the details of the lives of the people of Dibba Fujairah. Moreover, the castle was a symbol of strength and loftiness, and a center for defense and repelling attacks and invasions on the region, as it was used for the purposes of monitoring, defending and protecting the region, and to protect the agricultural areas that formed in that period an economic nerve, especially the dates farms. It was also a station for welcoming guests and resolving disputes and disagreements between people at that time. The castle remained an ancient witness, telling stories of glory and struggle for the people and for the region as a whole.

The restoration work was based on the results of the excavation conducted by the Antiquities Department of the Authority in 2010, which identified the map of the castle and its surrounding buildings.

Fujairah Tourism and Antiquities Authority restored the site during the period 2012-2018.
